What is 12-Season Color Analysis?

12-Season Color Analysis is a personalized system that helps individuals discover the colors that naturally complement their skin tone, hair, and eyes. Rooted in the science of undertones and color harmony, this method goes beyond the traditional four seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) by offering a more refined, customized approach—creating 12 distinct seasons. Each person’s natural coloring is influenced by three key factors: Temperature (warm or cool), Intensity (soft or bright), and Value (light or dark). By considering these elements together, the 12-Season system assigns individuals to a more precise seasonal category. This helps to select colors that enhance their natural beauty, make their skin glow, their eyes sparkle, and their overall appearance look healthier and more vibrant.

The 12 Seasons Explained

Each of the original four seasons is divided into three subcategories, creating a nuanced color palette for each type:

  • Spring (Warm, Light, and Clear)

    • Bright Spring: Bright, clear, warm colors

    • Light Spring: Light, warm colors with soft brightness

    • Warm Spring : Strong, warm, and vivid tones

  • Summer (Cool, Soft, and Light)

    • Cool Summer: Cool, slightly muted shades

    • Light Summer: Light, cool, and delicate colors

    • Soft Summer: Muted, gentle, and cool colors

  • Autumn (Warm, Deep, and Muted)

    • Dark Autumn: Dark, saturated, warm colors

    • Soft Autumn: Muted, warm tones with a gentle richness

    • Warm Autumn: Warm, vibrant, and earthy hues

  • Winter (Cool, Deep, and Clear)

    • Cool Winter: Cool, intense, and pure colors

    • Bright Winter: Crisp, vivid, and highly contrasted colors

    • Dark Winter: Deep, cool colors with dramatic richness

What Happens During an In-Person Color Analysis?

When you arrive for a professional in-person color analysis, you can expect a fun, relaxed, and eye-opening experience designed to reveal the colors that make you look and feel your best.

Here’s what to expect:

  1. Natural Lighting Check
We begin by making sure you are viewed in the most natural light possible. Good lighting is essential for seeing the true undertones of your skin, hair, and eyes.

  2. Skin Tone Assessment
We start by observing your skin’s natural undertone—whether it leans warm, cool, or neutral. We do this without makeup, as cosmetics can mask your true coloring. (Don't worry—we'll guide you on how to come prepared!)

  3. Draping with Color Swatches
Next comes the exciting part: draping! We place a series of carefully selected fabric swatches around your face. As we switch colors, we watch how your skin reacts—some shades make your complexion glow, eyes sparkle, and fine lines soften, while others may make you look tired or washed out.

  4. Determining Your Season and Subseason
Based on how your features respond to different color groups, we narrow down your overall season (Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter) and your specific subseason (like Soft Summer, True Autumn, or Bright Winter).

  5. Personalized Color Palette Reveal
Once your season is confirmed, we introduce you to your ideal color palette—the shades that naturally enhance your beauty. We’ll go over your best neutrals, accent colors, and how to mix and match them effortlessly.

  6. Style and Makeup Recommendations
If you wish, we can also suggest flattering makeup shades, ideal jewelry tones (silver vs. gold), and even tips for hair color choices that harmonize with your season.

Why In-Person Makes a Difference

Color is deeply affected by lighting, fabric texture, and subtle undertone shifts. In-person analysis allows for a precise, customized experience that online quizzes simply can't match. You'll leave with clarity, confidence, and a color palette you can truly trust.
